Grag Queen is literally the Queen of the Universe! In a mashup of Drag Race meets Eurovision, 14 drag queens from 10 countries competed for the crown on Paramount+ debut season of Queen of the Universe. The twist? These queens not only brought the lewks, but they also brought the voices as real vocals replaced the ever-popular lip synch. After 6 nail-biting episodes, Grag was ultimately crowned as the winner.
With her crown in hand, she’s just getting started. She is using her platform to raise awareness of the plight of the LGBTQ community in her country; ultra-conservative Brazil has some of the highest death rates for LGBTQ youth.
Her EP, Desperta, has five tracks to keep the party going. Her hit, “Bota Fé,” already has half a million views and streams and is followed up by her latest, “Party Everyday.” With the international success of her cover of Andra Day’s “Rise Up,” she is heading to the states to make her DragCon debut in Los Angeles next month and is working on writing more songs in English.
She stopped by to spill the tea about career, music, and culture. Aye aye aye!
What do you love most about your culture?
I gotta say I’m a super fan of our food and the way we always get to figure out a way to solve EVERYTHING, the precious “GAMBIARRA” from Brazil, haha!
Do you remember the first time you did drag, what was it like?
I wasn’t very comfortable, tt wasn’t very cute, BUT she trusted the process, and here we are!
What is your creative process when writing a new song?
Well, I love starting with a good melody that takes me somewhere and then I use that feeling to get a theme and start putting some words on the baby…
What are you most excited about in coming to Los Angeles?
It’s not just a visit, the bish’s got a WORKING VISA, she is booked, and people are texting me saying they’re excited to see me. So I’m honestly more than emotional about everything… We gonna have fun but my heart will be always trying to process everything minute.
What is your coming-out story?
Thank God I realized we gotta be respected instead of accepted… So after all the horrible time I spent on the fixing therapies made me wake up for everything.
What did you love most about filming Queen of the Universe?
Winning? Ha ha ha!
Kidding, surely the most amazing thing was having sure of the impact I had just for having Brazilian energy, having a chance to change cards with FIERCE queens from around the world, and also taking part in a huge production out of this planet…
How have you changed the most from winning Queen of the Universe?
Going to bed every night keeping in mind I got the title of Queen of The Universe, the recognition of that panel of judges, making my family proud and that big amount of coins just made me 100% more confident and self-loved. We all know how much this is an important achievement for someone who’s been always rejected and oppressed.
What is the sexiest part about doing drag?
THE CHEEK BONES HUNNYYYY! hahaha
Who is your celebrity crush?
Zhavia. If you are reading that, Hands up! The gurl is so perfect, we are married for years, she just needs to know it :( haha
Have you ever hooked up while in drag?
Gurl, yesss, hahaha! The fantasy is R E A L! I recommend the human hair to give u some movement on the performance!
How do you unwind after a performance?
Tonica, Gin, And Friends. Friends who are single and available!
Are Brazilians better in bed, why?
I gotta say I’ve been inside lots of locations hahaha and Brazilians DO know how to top this ranking 🔥

What is your message to your fans?
Just wanna say thanks for appreciating this crazy boy in a wig doing what he loves… Touching hearts in places I never stepped my feet is INSANE! Just wanna get to know and hug everyone. Everything I plan and do is for you💕
If you were to design a pair of Andrew Christian underwear, what would they look like?
We would break the industry creating the invisible one to show everything the world tries to cover up! Kidding, it would be very Brazilian to showcase all the sexiness!
