We wouldn’t be approaching a new year if we weren’t already thinking about the resolutions we were going to break, and what new crop of queens we were going to spend the next few months obsessing over on yet another season of ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race.’ Yup, the 14th season is upon us. Premiering January 7, 2022 - we’ll have a new gaggle of queens battling it out for the crown and we just learned who they’ll be!

Two more than a dozen queens are in it to win it this season and based on what we saw in the Ruveal as well as their Instagrams, we have some thoughts about who may or may not be crowned by Symone come the end of this season. And remember, this is just based on initial impressions and all this could very well change after the premiere in January, but until then…here are some predictions.

Since this is all about predicting the winner, I won’t get into who I think will be the Porkchop of the season. Although, I do have my eye on one or two to get that title this season. However, again, this isn’t about nitpicking at who I think will be out the door before their wigs are unpacked. Nope, this is about who stood out the most and who I think could potentially join the likes of Raja, Jinx, and Bob in the winner’s circle - and there were five queens during this Ruveal that did just that.

First up, Jorgeous. This bite-size queen seems to be the love child of Kenya Michaels and Valentina; uniquely fierce and as polished as Stirling. She was right when she said a short Latina has yet to win the crown, so perhaps she’d make her mark and be the first to do so. Speaking of firsts, season 14 is the first to feature a cisgender, heterosexual on the cast ala Maddy Morphosis.

Self-proclaiming themselves as “Arkansas’ Most Overrated Drag Queen” seems to be selling their talent short because Maddy brings the art aspect to drag. Maddy’s Instagram was one of the most diverse of the cast showcasing everything from crochet to spook to cosplay. I’m excited to see what Maddy brings to the runway, and I feel like will be the Gigi Goode of the season; looks on looks on looks

If Maddy is the one serving diversity in looks, then expect Kerri Colby to deliver body-ody every week because Hot. Damn. A lot of queens bring confidence to the game but it seems like Kerri packed it in every nook and cranny in her luggage. That bad bitch vibe, I feel like it’s going to help push her further than some may expect. While Kerri seemed as confident as they come, Orion Story seemed a bit more of an underdog. Speaking about proving people wrong, it made me want to root for her and I think when you have haters in the back of your mind, you do work that much harder to get to your destination.

Rounding out my top predictions is a queen that I’ve personally been following for a while now, and I’m not the only one. It seems like Kornbread is a queen of queens. One of those performers who is not only a fan favorite but also very beloved in the scene by her fellow performers. With all that said, she is going to use her years of experience as well as that charming as hell personality, and her fierce looks to at least get to that top 4.

Those were the top five that stood out to me BUT two other queens that could just as easily make their way to the finale are a pair of queens that come with very unique styles and that’s Seattle’s Bosco and Willow Pill. The latter being a friend of Yvie Oddly, so you can guess Pill’s aesthetic if all her own.

Out of all of the above, a winner is hard to determ- Kornbread. I think Kornbread is going to be crowned the winner. We’ve yet to have a curvaceous queen come out on top and if there is a queen to do it, it’s Kornbread.
